Retired Electrical Workers to Picket NV Energy
Group to protest cutbacks in health care benefits
Las Vegas, NV — Retired union electrical workers will protest cutbacks in their health care benefits at a rally in front of NV Energy corporate headquarters in Las Vegas, NV on Sept. 22, 2010.
The NV Energy retirees will be joined by members of a half-dozen other unions, as well as supporters from the religious community. A delegation of retirees, along with religious and community allies, will attempt to deliver petitions to NV Energy CEO Michael Yackira, calling on the company to honor its promises to retirees.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1245 has represented workers at NV Energy since 1945. Overall, the union represents roughly 20,000 energy workers in Nevada and California.
